Media Review 3: Act of Valor

Act of Valor was one of the most moving films I have seen. One of the main reasons I say that is because the actors in this film, aren't really actors; they were able to get real navy seals to play in this movie. I have never seen a movie like that where the "actors" aren't actually acting, and even though they weren't used to acting they did a phenominal job of portraying a navy seal (obviously, because they are the real deal). The movie does have great action scenes in it that had me on the edge of my seat, with knots in my stomach. Although, the movie did have a plot, and you didn't just see the seals fighting you got to see them converse with one another about their mission and what their purpose was in that specific mission. This made the fighting a lot more meaningful because you knew what the desired end result was supposed to be. The movie also portrays the families of the navy seals and you are able to see what it is like being gone; for example, how often they are able to call one another and what the men and women feel about being gone from their families. You also get a good idea of the family unit the navy seals develop while fighting with one another out on the battlefield. I would reccomend this movie for anyone, it does have its sad moments but overall it is an inspiring movie. You finish the movie feeling a great sense of patriotism and respect for the men and women who put their lives on the line each and every day for us. Definately rent this one, it's a great choice!

Thank you to anyone who plans on serving, who knows someone who is or has served, or someone who has served themselves. Freedom is a rare gift you all are able to offer to the American People.
